Charles Kortz Memorial Dollars for Scholars $1000 Award

 

This award is given in memory of Mr. Charles Kortz, former Superintendent of North Rose-Wolcott Central School District from 1995 - 2002. Mr. Kortz was the driving force behind the creation and establishment of the North Rose-Wolcott Chapter of Dollars for Scholars.

 

 

Fritz Wafler Memorial Dollars for Scholars $1000 Award

 

This scholarship award is given in memory of Mr. Fritz Wafler, former North Rose-Wolcott School Board president from 1972 - 1975. As a community leader, he helped many and encouraged youth to better themselves through education and work.

This award is given to one senior boy and one senior girl who display:
1) Leadership qualities (through leadership position(s) held)
2) Scholastic achievement ("B" average overall high school GPA)
3) Cultural interests (through dual participation in music, art, sports or business)
4) Personal ambition (through community service and/or work experience)

 

 Kaempffe Family Foundation Dollars for Scholars $1000 Vocational Award

 

 

 

The Kaempffe Family Foundation Dollars for Scholars Vocational Award is given to a student who plans to pursue a vocation at the college level.

Criteria for the Kaempffe Vocational award:
1) Must attend a trade, vocational or technical school
2) Trade includes automotive, electrical, machinist, carpentry, cosmetology or "other" as approved by the Kaempffe Family Foundation
3) Average GPA of "C" or better obtained in first college semester

                       

North Rose-Wolcott Booster Club $1000 Award

 

This award is given to one senior boy and girl who have participated in the district athletic program.

 

Family of Clifford G. Parton Dollars for Scholars $1000 Award

 

This scholarship is for students enrolling in a 2-year or technology school. Applicant will have a GPA in the 70's or the 80's, and be active in both school and local communities.

Cliff was an industrial arts teacher in the North Rose-Wolcott Central School District for many years, and was a charter member of our Dollars for Scholars chapter. His belief was that scholarships should be made available to all students who maintain a "C" average or above. He was a long-time active and contributing member of our community, serving on several boards - the NR-W Board of Education, Wolcott Civic Free Library, and Glenside Cemetery. He also served in several different capacities in the Wolcott Presbyterian Church, and enjoyed both golf and bowling.

Alex Gleken Eagle Scout Scholarship $1000 Award

Eligibility

·         Scout must be an active member of Troop #115 Wolcott at time Eagle Scout Rank is earned.

·         Scout must earn the Eagle Scout Rank as directed by the boy Scouts of the United States.

·         Scholarship is available for attendance at colleges, universities or trade schools.  It is not available for only on-line institutions, or self-study such as Empire State College.

·         Scholarship must be applied for within 3 years of graduation from high school - of note, a Scout has to achieve Eagle Scout rank by their 18th birthday. She is extending the application process to our Community level in case the student wishes to take sometime between High School and College.

·         The Scholarship will be awarded as follows - $1,000 will be given all at once for full time students who provide a transcript after their first semester indicating a grade of D  or better.  $500 per semester will be awarded for the first and second semester for a part time students who provide a transcript after each semester indicating a grade of D or better.
